Little Belize | Videos

Image
Have you ever been inside an Old Colony Mennonite supermarket? Watch a recent  video here  of a store in Little Belize, a community of Old Colony Mennonites in northern Belize. The video as well as the ones listed below give you a very good look not only on how their stores are laid out but also gives you a glimpse into their lives.   Here's a look at how their sawmill operates. See  video below .   Here is  another video  about the bean harvest in this traditional colony.    This  video  gives you a general look at one of their homes and farms.    Watch  here  as an elderly Mennonite couple receives the gift of a pressure monitor.                                                   A. Horse Exhibition in Spanish Lookout

Image
It was a humid Saturday morning with hazy skies as people headed out to Countryside Park in Spanish Lookout to watch and learn about horses which would later be sold at auction. There were sleek stallions, stocky work horses, gentle mares, and even one with a little colt tagging along. Miss Deb's food truck was carrying a brisk business with burgers, beside her a stand was selling pastries and coffee, another girl was selling orange juice in a corner. Although the event was open to anyone, the majority of visitors, as well horse owners, were Mennonites from various church groups and from colonies across Belize. Blue Creek, Spanish Lookout, Shipyard, Springfield, etc. The stars of the show were two magnificent glossy black stallions which pranced around and caused many to exclaim and pull out their cameras. The trust and connection between these 2 horses and their trainer was readily seen. The show ended at noon, then the auction began. I did not stay for the auction...
